Liquid Sphere, Kiln-formed glass, 2021
Liquid sphere was a project which developed a new understanding of material and process. I experimented with ways to construct the overall form using multiple parts and processes. The two shapes were 'pattern cut' and then the flat 2D form was slumped over two hemispherical stainless steel moulds, these were then glued together, sanded and polished. It was a project based on pushing technical boundaries and experimentation. The inspiration of the form came from spherical models and the translation of 2 dimensionality into 3 dimensions.
